Victim identified in stabbing at Silver Spring; suspect charged


Police in Montgomery County, Maryland, identified the victim and charged a person with a fatal stabbing.

Getro Banamina, 19, died of a fight Tuesday morning between him and Dakari Thomas, 18. This happened on the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring around 11:30 am.

Police found Thomas with injured hand and arm. He told the police that he had a fight with another person, who had fled the scene. Police also found a knife on Thomas, according to a press release.

Police found Banamina in the 8400 block of Fenton Street with stab wounds to the chest. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Thomas had been arrested for first degree assault, which later turned into first degree murder with Banamina’s death. He also faces an attempted escape charge after attempting to escape while being driven to a police car.
