UP Oroquieta offers advocacy through art in AdLikha 2021

UP Oroquieta will host AdLikha 2021, an online zine competition aimed at engaging social advocacy in art creation. Participants can submit their contributions until April 26, 2021. The winners will be announced in the virtual program of the event on May 1, 2021 via Zoom.

The competition is now exclusive to all participants aged 15 to 24 from Region IV-A CALABARZON. The winners will have the chance to amplify their cause through zine and earn a cash prize of up to Php 8,000.

In its very first edition, AdLikha 2021 highlights the collective struggles and recovery of Filipinos amid the ongoing pandemic.

“In brainstorming this event, we want to see the different facets or images of recovery that are unique to the lived experiences and situations of our participants,” said Carmela Isabelle Disilio, AdLikha 2021 Activity Leader and current Head of UP Oroquieta’s Education Committee.

With this year’s theme “Panimdim at Pagbangon”, the competition focuses on reflecting on and evaluating the current socio-economic status of Filipino society in the context of Quezon Province. It also encourages participants to come up with suggestions on how Filipinos can recover from challenges – both personal and national – and regain what was lost.

“With all the news and events, it’s hard to pick a single topic to highlight in the competition. We thought it would be best to give our attendees the freedom to choose what to show in their zine, as long as it is related to the concept of restoration, ”added Disilio.

Registration for AdLikha 2021 is still ongoing and will be open until April 10, 2021. Interested attendees may learn more about the event and the registration process here, or send a message to the organization at [email protected]

To be notified of updates and other announcements, attendees can contact the organization through the organization Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
