AAA said drivers in San Antonio pay an average of $3.09. Yet these prices could rise as the conflict escalates. KENS 5 wants to protect your money and it turns out that one day a week gas is usually cheaper.

It’s crazy to think that the day of the week affects gas prices, but it’s true. A few pennies more or less can really make an impact on your wallet when it comes to gas prices. There’s no hard and fast rule, but Gas Buddy analyzed data on the best day to save gas.

In Texas, Thursday is the worst day to buy gasoline. You will probably see the highest prices. So don’t fill up if you can wait. There’s a better day to refuel.

“We found that in most states, the cheapest time of the week to refuel is early in the week,” said Patrick De Haan, head of oil analysis at Gas Buddy. “Most states, it was Monday. Some of them were Sunday, some were Tuesday, and in most states it was more expensive to fill up later in the week around the weekend.

He said gasoline prices could rise a bit at the weekend as energy markets are closed on weekends.

“There’s a key government report coming out on Wednesday that could drive prices up after that and those changes could already start happening on Thursday and around the weekend,” De Haan said.

This is also true for Texas. The best day to fill up to save money on gas in Texas is Sunday. You’ll still want to shop around, though.
