It comes after the City announced a temporary closure due to safety concerns.
The Parks and Recreation Department, along with other City departments and community partners, have developed a plan to address the various safety issues that have arisen.
The plan includes additional staff and volunteers who will help monitor activities outside the water. Community organizations offered to visit the swimming pools and interact with the participants. Rochester Police Department School Resource Officers (SROs) will be on hand occasionally at swimming pools throughout the summer to interact with youth and families and to help ensure a safe and fun experience.
Registration for both swimming pools is compulsory. Online registration in advance is recommended and will be available starting June 11, 2021. If community members or visitors need help registering, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 507-328-2525.
The Parks and Recreation team is using the next few days to resolve maintenance issues that were identified in the early days of the Solider Field Pool opening.
Parks and Recreation Director Paul Widman shares, “I want to thank the community for their patience as we worked to provide a safe environment at both pools. In addition, we would like to thank the Rochester Swim Club and other community partners for their support of this activity. We look forward to welcoming the community again and ask everyone to help us by following the guidelines and rules. Safety is our priority. “
