Silver Springs man arrested for alleged assault on victim who accused him of stealing cigarettes and money

A man from Silver Springs was arrested after a victim claimed he physically assaulted her when she confronted him about taking his cigarettes and his money.

On August 9, an assistant from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to SE 16th Place with reference to a physical disturbance.

The victim claims that David Rogers, 31, physically assaulted her after confronting Rogers about his cigarettes and money.

The victim says that during the attack, Rogers hit her on the left side of her face, pushed her against the wall and continued to hit her, according to the sheriff’s report. She says the altercation became more violent and that she feared for her life.

Rogers was then located at the Marion County Sheriff’s Riding District Office after telling the District Secretary he was shot in the face. The deputy observed a small open sore on the left side of Rogers’ face near his nose. Marion County firefighters transported Rogers to the Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Rogers admitted to pushing and punching the victim, saying he put a lot of force behind his blow, according to the report.

Rogers was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail on bail set at $ 2,000. He is accused of assault and battery and a court date is set for September 24 at 9 a.m., according to prison records.
