Raiders News: ESPN ranks Derek Carr 9th among NFL’s best QBs

Silver mines: ESPN ranks Derek Carr as 9the best QB in the NFL

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is having one of the best seasons of his career. He leads the league in yards and ranks in the top ten in adjusted yards per attempt and yards per attempt.

The quick start has some outlets ranking him in the top ten quarterbacks in the NFL. Former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum recently ranked Carr ninth in the NFL’s best QB after his performance against the Denver Broncos.

Las Vegas’ Derek carr played exceptionally well in a win over the Broncos, especially in light of what the Raiders have dealt with as an organization over the past week. He now has four 300-yard games this season. The deep ball was a big factor again on Sunday, as he went 6 of 10 for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns on throws of at least 15 yards over the air, according to ESPN Stats and Information. And he finds the Henry Ruggs III receiver on a lot of them, especially the deeper ones. This season, Carr is 5 of 7 and targets over 30 yards on the field, including 2 of 2 on Sunday.

Carr has experienced hot starts like this before, but not to this point. He challenges defenses more than ever and anticipates at a high level. This is exactly what you would expect from a 30-year-old veteran quarterback.

Hopefully the former Fresno State Bulldog can make it a yearlong ranking instead of a temporary ranking.
