Attempted abortion claims the young woman’s life

A YOUNG woman from Walvis Bay bled to death after trying to end her pregnancy on her own.

According to the incident report by the Namibian police in the Erongo region, the tragic incident occurred last Wednesday in a house on Hematiet Street in the Tutaleni suburb of Walvis Bay.

“The 24-year-old woman was found in a pool of her own blood in a room she had rented in the house,” the report said.

The woman’s next of kin were informed of her death, but her name was not made public.

According to the report, the deceased attempted to terminate her pregnancy by inserting an unknown object into her body.

The deceased suffered severe blood loss that eventually led to their death.

The report also states that before going to bed, the young woman complained to other people in the house that she was not doing well.

No physical injuries were found on the deceased’s body, according to the report.

Namibian police said in the report that foul play was not expected at this stage of the investigation, but stated that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the real cause of death.
